Friday Isaac had the day off after finishing a two week training in Chicago that had him on the road for even longer weeks than usual. Tuesday he'll start a new project in Chicago for the next few months. We kicked off the long weekend with a trip to the Minnesota Zoo to see the Russia's Grizzly Coast exhibit. It was a really neat exhibit, and we added eastern Russia to our long list of places to travel some day. My friend Karen's husband John has spent time tracking fish owls in eastern Russia, and so it was really cool to see pictures and statues of the birds he's told us about, and even to see a picture of John in one of the displays!

Here's Isaac and Soren at the otter exhibit. Isaac is explaining to Soren that its' not a cat.
Here's Soren getting excited because this time he's SURE he spotted a cat...
...and it is!!
Soren always likes seeing the giant fish tanks. This was the first time he got to try out the "petting pond" with little sharks and sting rays. Soren liked splashing around, but I don't think he touched any fish. Isaac had to make a quick save and grab a kid next to him who started to fall in head first. According to one of the zoo volunteers kids take a dive on a regular basis. Being that I kinda hate fish it sounds perfectly horrible to me.
Those who have been around Soren recently know that he's a little obsessed with drinking water, so he was pretty stoked about the drinking fountain, even if it didn't all go in his mouth.
Today we're catching up on some housework, and tomorrow it's back to the state fair!!
