sick little boo (yes, again)

Soren literally has not been well for about 6 weeks now. First it was RSV/ear infection, which morphed into the double ear infection, which then led to antibiotic induced stomach problems and the worst scream-inducing diaper rash I've ever seen. Now he's got another cold and cough. Here he is relaxing with dad and Peanut after a particularily bad coughing/barfing episode.

an honest-to-goodness belly shot

Here's the best I could do on my own- a picture from my phone. Baby belly #2 at 25 weeks. (Writing 25 weeks kind of freaks me out).

For comparison's sake here's me at around 25 weeks with Soren. About the same?

I'm starting to become concerned at how insanely active this kid is. My midwife announces at every appointment without fail that I'm going to have my hands full with this one, either because she's hiding when we're trying to find the heartbeat, or assaulting the doppler with kicks. I've dismissed all this as part of the nonsense people inveriably feel the need to say to scare moms-to-be, except lately baby girl seems determined to break her way out through my stomach, and is working on this an alarming portion of the day. And night. With a toddler that I can barely keep up with during the day, and who is still not sleeping through the night on a regular basis, I'm hoping more than anything that this baby girl proves us wrong!

Spring has sprung!

I've never had spring fever quite as desperate as I have this year as the mother of a squirrelly toddler. I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to unleash Soren on the playground to get some fresh air and run off his seemingly endless supply of energy! Even better was going today with Isaac, and letting him be in charge of chasing the kid while I snapped a bazillion pictures. Seriously, there's a lot of pictures here. Looking through them I can't get over what a BOY Soren is turning into! Where did my baby go!?!?

Red Wing

We took a day trip to Red Wing a couple of weeks ago to check out the annual bald eagle migration in the area. Yeah, we're that cool. Soren was a little cranky, as his ear infection had morphed into a raging double ear infection despite a round of amoxicillan. But it's always good to get out and have a little adventure, and of course to see all those eagles in one place! Soren was more interested in train watching than bird watching. Can't say I blame the kid!

Puddle Splashing

What's a boy to do on one of the first warm days of the year? Splash in puddles of course!

Belly Shots (or lack thereof)

I've been heinously bad at documenting this pregnancy. As in these might be just about the only pictures of my growing bump so far. And they aren't even good shots. *Sigh*

Happy Birthday Tom!

Soren's Uncle Tom turned the big 3-0 a couple of weeks ago, and we had a small family party to celebrate. My camera settings were all out of whack, which is unfortunate, as some of these would have been real winners otherwise.

Grams and gramps brought this yummy cherry ale.
Everyone was tasting some and Soren didn't want to be left out.
Happy boy! (and Aunt Mary)
The birthday boy and his lovely wife.

This unfortunately is the face that Soren now makes when he knows I'm
going to take his picture. Either that or he's having a stroke.

I've figured out how to post from my phone, which will allow me to
more easily share low-quality gems like this one of Soren trying on
mom's swim cap.

Soren couldn't quite manage to get his pants on this morning, and if he couldn't do it himself he wasn't going to do it at all. Mom's hat was a bit more managable.

Poor sick boo-boo!
Soren has had a nasty cough for over a week now and has been miserable. I finally took him in expecting them to tell me it was nothing, but turns out he has a pretty nasty case of RSV, and an ear infection. They sent us home with our very own "Huffenpuff" nebulizer machine and instructions to nebulize him four times a day. Yeah right. Ever try to convince a squirmy 20 month old to sit still with a mask over his face? Thankfully as soon as we started the treatments his cough got instantly much better. Hopefully we'll only be doing this for a short period!
Soren loves his Aunt Beth.
Sometimes more than mom and dad. So he was thrilled to pieces when mom and dad left him home with Beth for a whole weekend while they went to a friend's cabin. He helped Beth do laundry, and generally hung around looking extra cute! It was a win-win for all the Townsends!
